I’ve started buying (collecting?) Wera tools to replace some of the stuff I’ve collected over the years with something a bit higher quality.
One of the things I wanted was foam tray inserts to neatly organize them. I wasn’t able to find anything off the shelf (and the Wera tools themselves usually come in cloth pouches for portability).
What I ended up doing was using a Cricut vinyl cutting machine to cut several layers of 2mm thick EVA foam. I then adhered them together, with a backing piece to make what I think is a decent alternative to custom commercial cut trays (which would end up being in the hundreds of dollars). This, I was able to do for around $3 per tray.
The first pass is on my Zyklop ratchet sets (1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″) as a trial run. Next I’ll be tackling the sockets and driver bits.

I’ll plan to continue updating this page as I make more of these trays (and as I continue to get more of these tools).

Beautiful tools!
